STMEA ALL COUNTY CHORUS Practice Files & Festival Information
Please scroll down to the two playlists embedded below to access the practice track recordings for every voice part in both the middle school and high school All-County chorus pieces. All students are expected to practice with their music at home and come to the festival knowing their part well. All mp3 tracks can be downloaded so that students can listen to them on their personal devices.
The 2016 STMEA All-County Chorus Festival will be held at the Newfield Central High School on January 15th and 16th.
The concert will be at 2:00 on Saturday with the middle school chorus beginning the program, followed by the high school chorus. The middle school conductor will be Dr. Lon Beery. Our high school director will be Dr. Todd Ranney.
Reading Rehearsal
The middle school only will hold a reading rehearsal at Newfield High School on TUESDAY, January 5th from 4-6pm. All schools attending the festival are required to attend. Please arrive and sit in the auditorium with your things to wait for room assignments. Students should all come prepared with their music, pencils, and water. No dinner will be provided at this rehearsal.
Friday, January 15th
Rehearsals will be held at Newfield HS from 3:00pm-7:30pm. Transportation by school bus to and from Dryden will be provided. We will have to leave school at 2:00pm that afternoon, so students will miss half of their 9th period class. Students will need to be picked up by their parents when we return to Dryden at approximately 8:30pm that evening.
Saturday, January 16th
A bus will be leaving from Dryden at 7:30am to get students to Newfield for rehearsals that begin at 9:00am and go straight on until the concert. The concert begins at 2:00pm and is free of charge. Students are encouraged to get a ride home with their families at the conclusion of the concert. If transportation back to Dryden is absolutely necessary, please contact Mrs. Easton.
Music
Students will return the music on Saturday, before or after the concert (depending on the conductor). Bills will be sent to schools that do not return all of the music that was given to them.

Dryden Middle School Chorus Concert 2015
For extra credit, you can listen to the recording of this year's Middle School Winter Concert. Take notes on what you hear, and then write a full paragraph (4 complete sentences) with musical details about how each song was performed. Include the title of each piece at the beginning of the paragraph. Turn these in before the end of January to earn extra credit on your chorus grade, or to make up your concert grade (if you had an excused absence).

NYSSMA Practice Recordings
Well, now that the play has closed its curtains and is behind us, we're on to NYSSMA season!
Make the most of your practice time by using the practice recordings provided below. It's also a good idea to practice your song without the recording, too, to listen carefully to the sound of your own voice, tone quality, and breathing plan. If possible, practice in a mirror so you can see not only what your posture and vowel shapes look like, but to start to explore expressions and acting choices, too!
And, of course, take time to sightread something every single day! The only way to get good at doing it...is by doing it yourself.

DRESS REHEARSAL & SHOW NIGHT SCHEDULES: Into the Woods
Here we are... finally made it to production week! In honor of promoting the show and getting pumped up for opening night, the cast and crew are invited to participate in SPIRIT WEEK! Each day will have a dress-up theme for us to participate in during school, if you wish:
MONDAY - NINJA DAY (Wear black in honor of our crew... the ninjas of the stage!)
TUESDAY - FAVORITE CHARACTER DAY (Dress up as your favorite character from the show)
WEDNESDAY - MAGIC SPELL DAY (Wear one or more of these colors: RED, WHITE, YELLOW or GOLD for the 4 ingredients of the spell)
THURSDAY - CAST T-SHIRT DAY (Wear your Into the Woods T-shirt or sweatshirt and invite everybody you see to our show!)
FRIDAY - SUIT UP/DRESS UP (Dress up in nice clothes to celebrate Opening Night!)
DRESS REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
Please take the time to read this schedule carefully to know when you are called to be there. I may not have time to be answering phone calls and emails this week. The schedule is clearly labeled:
Monday, March 9th - FULL CAST & CREW
Call Time: 3:00pm
Dinner: 4:30-5:00pm (Dinner provided by parent volunteers)
Sound Check: 5:00-5:30pm
Curtain: 6:00pm
Tuesday, March 10th - FULL CAST & CREW
Call Time: 3:00pm
Dinner 4:30-5:00pm (Dinner provided by parent volunteers)

Wednesday, March 11th - FULL CAST & CREW
Call Time: 3:00pm
Dinner 5:30-6:00pm (Dinner provided by parent volunteers)
Sound Check: 6:00-6:30pm
Curtain: 7:00pm
IMPORTANT REMINDER TO ALL CAST CREW: END TIMES ARE NOT KNOWN FOR DRESS REHEARSALS. We all stay until we are done. As stated in the contracts that were signed at the beginning of play season, and as announced clearly at the parent meeting, there is no determined end time at dress rehearsals. Curtain times are listed. This is when we start the show each night, and run through it just like a regular performance. When we get to the end of the show (whatever time that is), all students may call home to tell their parents they can be picked up in about an hour from that time. During that hour, every student in the cast and crew is responsible for cleaning everything up & putting it away so it looks like a school again for the next morning. Then, every cast & crew member stays seated in the auditorium for notes from the directors. NO ONE IS EXCUSED EARLY. ANY STUDENT WHO SKIPS ANY PART OF DRESS REHEARSAL OR LEAVES EARLY WITHOUT PERMISSION WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE SHOW.
The more cooperation we get from everyone in cleaning, and the quieter they are during notes, the faster we get out on dress rehearsal nights. This is part of the team building that happens to run a successful show. Thank you, as ever, for your support.
