2015 STMEA All-County Chorus Festival Information
The 2015 STMEA All-County Chorus Festival will be held at South Seneca High School on January 16th and 17th. Rehearsal on January 16th will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Rehearsal on January 17th will start at 9:00 a.m. The concert will start at 2:00 p.m.
Reading Rehearsal
The middle school will have reading rehearsal at South Seneca on TUESDAY, January 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Middle school students will need to have their music, pencils, and water with them and will be transported to and from Dryden by school bus, and parents should pick them up at school when we return.
Music
All of the students have been given their All-County music and they are responsible for keeping it in good condition and are expected to take it home over the break to start looking at the music, and to start practicing with the online recordings.
Preparing for the Concert
Students are expected to prepare their music well before the festival. This includes regular attendance at their All County music lessons during school, attending the reading rehearsal (middle school only), and practicing their parts on their own at home. Practice recordings will be made available on my blog for students to rehearse with at home. Please check over the week for these updated recordings at http://mrseastonmusic.blogspot.com/
Concert Dress
Gentlemen: black pants, white shirt, (tie optional)
Ladies: black pants or long skirt/dress, white shirt
No flip-flops
No short skirts/dresses
No T-Shirts
Food
Students may bring their own food or may choose to order food ahead of time for dinner on Friday night and lunch on Saturday. Menus with specific food items will be available after the winter break for students to fill out and return to Mrs. Easton. It looks like we’re looking at a Taco Bar on Friday night and a Wrap Bar on Saturday afternoon. Meals will be $5.00 and additional food items will be available for an extra charge.
Concert Recording
Scott Adams will be recording the concert this year. This is the same company who recorded last year’s festival. Students and families may purchase a CD at the concert to be delivered at a later date.

Students should pay close attention to the announcements and the schedules posted in the auditorium and outside the music office so they can plan ahead to attend their music lessons and schedules at school. Students who are not musically prepared may be asked not to participate, as there is a waiting list of students who are ready to take their place. Please let Mrs. Easton know as soon as possible if there is any reason your student will be unable to attend the festival so replacement plans can be made. Attendance at all lessons and rehearsals is mandatory to be allowed to perform Saturday.
Please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions or concerns. And please come to the final concert on Saturday, January 17th at 2:00pm. This is a stellar representation of the music programs around Seneca and Topmkins counties, and the performance is sure to be impressive, as well as an entertaining and educational experience for all of our young Dryden musicians who are lucky enough to be a part of it!

CALLBACKS for INTO THE WOODS:
The following list of people are being called back to give more auditions for "Into the Woods". Callback Auditions will take place on Monday, December 22nd starting at 3:00pm. Plan on staying past 5:00pm... just like auditions, we may stay as late as 8:00-8:30pm, but people will likely be dismissed at staggered times throughout the evening.
If your name is on this list, stop by Mrs. Easton's office at 2:19pm this Friday, December 19th to pick up your sides and additional song material to study over the weekend. There are no practice recordings and no need to memorize any of this material. This is simply to give everyone a chance to think about these characters and how they both act and interact with each other. Come prepared to read/sing any part (but you may only be asked to read one or two on Monday).
If your name is not on this list, that does NOT mean you aren't being considered for the cast. The final cast list will be posted here online by midnight on Monday, December 22nd and will also be posted on the bulletin board at school next to Mrs. Easton's office. ALL Cast members should pick up a script from Mrs. Easton on Tuesday, December 23rd to take home and study over the break. The cast is expected to have all their lines memorized by our first rehearsal in January.

INTO THE WOODS AUDITION MUSIC

Practice files with the voice part only are available at slow speeds for learning, and faster speeds to prepare for the audition. Accompaniment tracks that will be used at the auditions are available for each song. ALL audition material must be performed from memory, with good vocal technique and dramatic expression/acting throughout.
All songs are downloadable. To DOWNLOAD any track, either click on the "Soundcloud" icon in the upper right hand corner, or click on a track to play it and then click on the "View Track" button on the right as it appears to the right next to the title of that track. Either method will get you to the Soundcloud page, where you can click on the download button for any track (a down-pointing arrow)

INTO THE WOODS: Dryden Musical News
Important Upcoming Dates:
Tuesday, December 2nd (3:00-5:00pm) DRAMA MEETING All students in grades 6-12 interested in participating in the musical this year must collect the materials handed out at this meeting. Contract agreements and audition materials will be distributed. This is the only time when the audition songs will be taught, so it is important to attend if you plan to audition. All Contracts need to be signed and returned to Mrs. Easton no later than December 18, 2014.
Tuesday, December 2nd (2:30-5:00pm) POINSETTIA FUNDRAISER PICK-UP All students in the Drama Club who ordered poinsettias and wreaths need to come pick up all of their products this afternoon. Make sure to arrange for a ride home, as these will be difficult to carry on the bus.
Thursday, December 18th (3:00-8:00pm) AUDITIONS for INTO THE WOODS All students interested in trying out for the play need to arrive at 3:00pm. Audition material needs to be memorized, audition forms and contracts must be signed and handed in, and students should be wearing comfortable clothes and shoes appropriate for the dance audition. Students will need to arrange for a ride home. All CREW members must turn in their signed contract today in order to participate. Snow date for auditions (if needed) will take place on Friday, December 19th from 3:00-8:00pm
Monday, December 22nd (3:00-8:00pm) CALL BACK AUDITIONS Students who receive a call back audition may pick up additional audition materials from Mrs. Easton at school on Friday, December 19th. Material does NOT need to be memorized, but students are highly encouraged to look at, listen to, and rehearse the material at home beforehand.
Wednesday, January 7th (6:00-7:00pm) MANDATORY PARENT MEETING All parents and students in the cast and crew must attend our annual parent meeting with the directors in the Dryden Auditoium at 6:00pm
